— A 25-year-old man told Horry County police that he thought some men tried to invade his Myrtle Beach area home and he was shot during the incident late Sunday, according to a police report.

An Horry County police officer was called at 11:57 p.m. Sunday to 3805 Palmetto Drive by the victim’s roommate, a 26-year-old man, police said. The officer noted two holes in a wall, blood on the floor and the victim with a gunshot wound to his left hand.

The victim, who was in pain, told police he fired his gun two or three times toward the backdoor because he thought someone was back there, according to the report. The victim went on to tell police he heard a knock at the door, opened the door and was met by a suspect, who “told him to be quiet” before they started to shoot at him.

The suspects did not enter the house, but ran away, according to the report. The officer noted the victim had been shot in the hand and legs, but no other details were listed.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
