Horry County police charge man in sexual assault of 5-year-old girl

— A Galivants Ferry man was charged in connection with a 5-year-old girl being sexually assaulted, according to authorities.

Rodger Dale Hucks, 68, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, according to jail records. Hucks is being held pending a bond hearing.

In the report filed Oct. 9, an officer wrote that two people learned that during the summer the girl said Hucks would put his hands in her pants and inappropriately touch her. The girl and a 7-year-old boy no longer have contact with Hucks, according to the report.
