It’s not a trick the day after Halloween, but a treat for anyone who wants to start celebrating the Christmas season as area theaters and groups launch their Christmas programs, several for the final two months of the year.
A scan of local theaters with the major houses productions shows that three get underway on Friday: “The Carolina Opry Christmas Special” at the Calvin Gilmore Theater and Legends in Concert, both in Myrtle Beach, and “The South’s Grandest Christmas Show” at the Alabama Theatre in North Myrtle Beach.
The Palace Theatre’s “Hot Jersey Nights Christmas Special,” continuing with a musical tribute to Frankie Valli & the 4 Seasons, opens Tuesday, and Pirates Voyage Dinner Attraction begins its second year of yuletide fare for mateys next Thursday.
Also, although Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament doesn’t shift its show into a Christmas theme, its performances continue through the season, several nights a week, mostly at 6 p.m. Details at 236-4635, 800-436-4386 or www.medievaltimes.com/myrtlebeach.aspx.
