MYRTLE BEACH — Homewood Elementary School in Conway was named a Distinguished Title I School Thursday at the S.C. Association of Title I Administrators 2013 Fall Conference, according to a news release from Horry County Schools. The school will receive a $10,000 grant, and school officials will attend the National Title I Association Fall Conference in San Diego, California, in February.
Homewood received the honor for being the highest-performing Title I school in South Carolina for progress in student achievement.
The school was named one of six Title I Reward Schools earlier this year in one of two award categories - overall student achievement and progress made over two years - and the honor came with a $5,000 grant for progress made over two years.
