Horry County fire crews investigate apartment blaze in Little River

— Horry County Fire Rescue crews are investigating an apartment fire in Little River where one person was rescued and taken to a local hospital, said Julius Graham, department spokesman, said at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Firefighters were called at 8:14 a.m. Thursday to an apartment on Parkway Lane, which is off of Sea Mountain Highway near S.C. 90, Graham said. When crews arrived they found an apartment was on fire and one person was trapped inside.

Crews rescued the person and that person was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center emergency room to be checked for injuries, Graham said. It was unclear at 8:50 a.m. Thursday the extent of the person’s injuries.

Firefighters placed the blaze under control by 8:39 a.m. and were searching for hots spots and beginning their investigation into how the blaze started, Graham said.
