Myrtle Beach police charge teen in assault of child

— A Myrtle Beach teen was charged Wednesday in connection with a juvenile being assaulted, according to a police report.

Furman Coy Knight, 19, of Myrtle Beach was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with unlawful neglect of a child, according to police records.

Officers were called about 8 p.m. Sept. 9 to 620 29th Ave. N., for a child, whose age was not listed in the report, that had a bruised lip and black eye, police said.

The juvenile told the officer that Knight had harmed her the day before while at 309 Maple St., according to the report. Police began investigating the incident and officials with the state Department of Social Services were at the scene as well.

No other details were listed in the report.
