A hunter is in the hospital Sunday after police said he fell from his tree stand in Georgetown.

According to a press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, the 43-year-old man went hunting behind his home in the 3900 block of Pennyroyal Road in Georgetown late Friday afternoon. His family members called police at about 9 a.m. Sunday to report he had hot returned.

Deputies searched the woods behind the man’s house and found him within 10 minutes on the ground at the bottom of his tree stand. The man told police that he fell from his tree stand after falling asleep.

Police said the man was alert. He was airlifted and taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. His injuries and condition were unknown as of Sunday evening.
