Myrtle Beach police charge N.C. man in sexual assault of minor

— A North Carolina man surrendered to Myrtle Beach police Tuesday morning to face a charge of sexual assault of a minor, according to authorities.

Erich Anton Engel, 34, of Cary, N.C., was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct wit a minor in connection with an incident that occurred July 11, 2012, according to a police report.

Myrtle Beach police were called July 12, 2012 by an officer with the Cary, N.C., Police Department, who told local officers that the incident occurred in the city, according to the report. A 33-year-old woman told police that her daughter told her that Engel assaulted her while on vacation in Myrtle Beach.

No other details were listed in the report.
