MYRTLE BEACH — Myrtle Beach police charged a 26-year-old woman after two children in her care tested positive for drugs, according to authorities.
Amanda Marie Vanhorn, 26, of Myrtle Beach was charged Friday morning with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child and was being held at 9 a.m. at the Myrtle Beach Jail pending a bond hearing.
Officers were called about 11 a.m. Aug. 26 to 1221 Sessions St., for a report of child abuse, according to an incident report filed then. An agent with the state Department of Social Services was at the house and told officers that two juveniles had tested positive for narcotics as part of DSS mandated drug screens.
The children were placed in emergency protective custody at that time, according to the report. Warrants were requested for Vanhorn’s arrest. No other details, including the age of the children, were listed in the report.
