Open Letter to Congress:
So, let’s see if I understand this correctly. Congress, the self-righteous body of political elites acting on behalf of their own self-interests, in their self-imposed ‘infinite wisdom’, created the monstrous “train wreck” of ObamaCare (cleverly entitled the Affordable Care Act to disguise its insidious agenda) and shoved this obscene debacle of government seizure of our health care system down ,our throats, against overwhelming opposition from We the People, selling it as quality, inexpensive ('affordable') heath care for everyone...the next best thing since sliced bread.
Oh, and yes, they know what's best for us and we will come to like it once we learn more about it. No one read the 2,700-plus pages (and still counting) of incomprehensible, convoluted legalese, but were told that Congress has to pass the law to find out what’s in it, and so...they did. Thanks.
Lo and behold, soon after passage, the nefarious details began to emerge and they just keep on coming. Contrary to your sanctimonious opinions, We do not like it It and we do not want it. It is anything but quality health care and certainly not turning out to be affordable, with very little to do with health care and everything to do with c-o-n-t-r-o-l.
It is government power-grabbing at its finest and is bringing our nation to its knees, economically, politically and socially, and the “fundamental transformation of the United States of America” is now in full swing as promised. A plethora of self-interest groups who pushed hard for passage of this law are now lining up for and being granted waivers from it. That, in and of itself, is cause for alarm and warrants serious Constitutional review. Now that it has been exposed for the outrageously expensive government vehicle for redistribution of our nation’s wealth, Congress has balked...our legislators are confronted with the error of their ways and have scrambled to ‘broker’ a bailout for themselves, their families and their staffs because it is so overwhelmingly oppressive and much too expensive, and We the People get stuck holding the bag. If only you had read the bill, we could’ve been saved a lot of grief, but it is now plain and clear that our best interests are of no concern to you.
We the People get it. You, our humble servants, do not serve our interests, or protect and preserve our Constitution, our liberties and our free-market system. You are just another bloated government bureaucracy that serves in the capacity of self-interest, ideology and personal and political ambitions, and to hell with what’s best for the country...for We the People.
You betrayed our trust in you in the most egregious dereliction of duty. If you had a modicum of courage, honor, honesty and/or a sincere sense of duty, you would muster up the guts to stand on principle and reject the special exemption from Obamacare for Congress and fight the good fight. Win, lose or draw, you at least will have stood for something close to honorable (unlike Bart Stupak, Evan Bayh and others who lack the courage to fight for their convictions and sold their souls to the devil in the process).
Put your money where you mouth is. You may never have a better opportunity than the present to serve your country, saying what you mean and meaning what you say by taking up our ‘cause’, rejecting ObamaCare exemptions for Congress on principle and standing with We the People who are doomed to despair under the weight of our own inept and corrupt government. I won't hold my breath. We are desperate for heroes and they are all too few and far between.
