MYRTLE BEACH — Conway’s Homewood Elementary School is one of six schools named by the S.C. Department of Education as the state’s highest performing Title I schools, according to a news release from Horry County Schools.
Title I Reward Schools are the three highest performing schools in the two categories of overall student achievement and progress made over two years. Homewood Elementary will receive a $5,000 grant as one of three schools recognized for having made the most progress in student achievement from one year to the next.
Representatives from Reward Schools will attend the S.C. Association of Title I Administrators 2013 Fall Conference to share best practices with other schools. During the conference, one school in each of the two categories will be named a South Carolina Title I Distinguished School. Winners will receive an additional $10,000 grant and will attend the National Title I Association Fall Conference in February 2014 for national recognition.
