Michael Jay Hall

— Horry County police charged a 59-year-old Myrtle Beach man in connection with three young children reporting he had sexually assaulted them while caring for them as their 24-year-old mother worked, according to a police report.

Michael Jay Hall was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday on charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11 and third degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to jail records.

The mother of the victims, ages 6,7, and 8, told police on Aug. 13 that she worked nights and Hall would watch the children, but the night before she came home early and found one of the children naked in a room with Hall, according to the report. The woman told police she questioned the child about the incident and the victim said Hall had sexually assaulted them at night.

The woman took the children to a relative’s home and then contacted police, according to the report. It was unclear how Hall was taken into custody on Wednesday.
