MYRTLE BEACH — A man stole more than $2,400 from an employee during the Myrtle Beach Pelicans’ game about 8 p.m. Monday night, according to an incident report.
The woman was carrying a baseball bag over her shoulder containing money bags from several concessions stands totaling $2,414 when she felt a tug on the bag. A second tug nearly threw her to the ground and broke the strap, the report said.
That’s when the unknown man fled the stadium. The employee started to chase him, but lost him when he ran through a hole in the bushes, jumped a fence and ran towards Broadway at the Beach.
A second employee saw the incident and said he had been sitting near the man at a picnic table while taking a break from work and that the man seemed to be interested in watching the money being counted. She told police she could help them draw a sketch of the man.
The man is believed to be between the ages of 20 and 25, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds and standing between 5’5” and 6’0.”
