A response by the Horry County SWAT negotiators in Garden City on Tuesday morning ended with police finding a woman dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Horry County Police were first called to the scene for a welfare check, according to public information officer Lt. Robert Kegler. He said that officers noticed a hole in a window consistent with a gunshot wound, and also heard a gunshot coming from the home.
The SWAT negotiations team was called but could not establish communication with anyone inside the house. A decision was made to enter the dwelling, and that’s when the woman was found.
