Want to take a peek inside the operations at the Georgetown County Sherriff’s Office? Sign up for the Citizen’s Academy which runs on Thursdays for seven weeks beginning Sept. 12.

Interested citizens must reside in Georgetown County, be at least18-years-old and submit to a background investigation and criminal history check.

Sheriff Lane Cribb said the academy does not make a person a law enforcement officer but serves as an educational look at the agency.

“The academy will give them an appreciation of what officers do and the decisions they must make,” Cribb said.

Visit www.gcsheriff.org for more information and to apply. Applications are due August 30.
