A Brunswick County road deputy was arrested Friday for two counts of solicit crimes against nature, two counts of solicit for prostitution, and one count of willful fail discharge duties after a two-week internal investigation.
Timothy Paul Caulder, 36, Shallotte, was arrested on the charges by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards referred the investigation to the Drug Enforcement Unit, according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office.
“We, as law enforcement officers, are not above the law,” said Sheriff John Ingram. “We will not tolerate anyone from this agency to abuse their position.”
Caulder was hired as a detention center deputy in December 2011, and was promoted to a road deputy in August 2012.
Caulder’s position with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has been terminated effective immediately, the release states. He is currently being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility on a $2,500 bond.
