A portion of Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach was briefly closed following a vehicle crash where power lines fell into the roadway Wednesday morning, according to authorities.
The crash occurred on Kings Highway near 27th Avenue South and forced officials to close the southbound lanes of Kings Highway until about 12 p.m. Wednesday because of downed power lines, Myrtle Beach police Capt. David Knipes said.
A vehicle struck a utility pole, which caused the power lines to fall to the ground, Knipes said. The vehicle caught fire and Myrtle Beach firefighters got the fire under control.
Additional details about the crash is expected to be released later.
