Conway police arrest man after discovering tent meth lab in woods

Police charged a man Sunday in connection with the discovery of a methamphetamine lab in a tent in a wooded area of Conway.

Thomas Patrick Shiels has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and illegal disposal of methamphetamine waste, according to Conway police spokeswoman Catina Hipp.

Hipp said officers discovered the tent about 100 yards into the woods near the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Sherwood Drive at around 6 p.m. Saturday. Shiels was taken into custody and charged Sunday.

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division cleaned up the area.
