MYRTLE BEACH — Horry County police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a Conway man and the stabbing of a woman during a domestic incident from Sunday, Lt. Robert Kegler said Tuesday.
No charges have been filed in the incident that resulted in the shooting death of 35-year-old David Sims Jr., and the stabbing of a 30-year-old woman, Kegler said.
It was the first time officers had been called to the house the couple shared on Old Reaves Ferry Road near Conway, Kegler said Tuesday. There had been two alarm calls to the home, but no police calls, he said.
Police said Sims was shot about 6:15 p.m. Sunday and died at the scene.
An Horry County police report showed officers found Sims in the master bathroom and the woman was performing CPR on him when they arrived. An officer secured a 9 mm handgun on the counter in the room and EMS arrived and checked Sims and determined he was dead.
The officer noted in the report that Sims had a small kitchen knife in his right hand. The woman was taken by EMS to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
On Monday, Kegler said detectives learned that Sims and the woman argued and during the altercation, the woman was stabbed and Sims was shot. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation by detectives with the police department’s major crimes unit, Kegler said.
