MYRTLE BEACH — Two Myrtle Beach men are charged in the robbery of a 22-year-old man who had agreed to take a ride with the men to his hotel, according to a police report.
Police charged Joshua Jonathon Roberts, 26, and Stanley Joseph White III, 20, both of Myrtle Beach with armed robbery on Monday, according to Myrtle Beach police arrest reports. White also is charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Roberts was held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $25,000 bond, while White was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail.
White was taken into custody at the Myrtle Beach Police Department at 10:42 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report.
Officers took Roberts into custody at 12:22 a.m. Monday while he was walking in the area of Fifth Avenue South and Kings Highway. An officer saw him and noticed he was wearing shoes that the victim had described from the robbery.
The victim told police that about 2 a.m. Saturday he was walking when a man approached him and offered him a ride back to his hotel, according to the report. The victim said he followed the man to a location on Sixth Avenue South and the man told him his girlfriend would give him a ride.
The victim said he was robbed and punched in the face by another man after he refused to purchase drugs, according to the report. The victim said the men stole $160 cash and his cellphone.
