— An international student on a bicycle died Wednesday after colliding with a bus, according to authorities.

Police responded at 9:52 a.m. to Ninth Avenue North and Kings Highway where the accident took place, said Capt. David Knipes with the Myrtle Beach Police Department. A Coast RTA bus was traveling south on Kings Highway and had the green light, turning right to go west on Ninth Avenue North toward Broadway. A female Ukranian international student, 20, traveling south on a bike on a sidewalk failed to yield at the intersection. She struck the side of the bus and was run over by the back end of the bus, Knipes said.

The student was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where she later died, Knipes said. Identification is pending notification of her family, and no charges will be filed against the bus driver, Knipes said.
