Woman in Horry County police custody after she claims she was kidnapped, locked in trunk

Horry County police have charged a woman with filing a false police report in connection with allegations she was locked inside the trunk of a car earlier Wednesday.

Officer Melissa Cox said at 12 p.m. Wednesday that officers had taken the woman into custody and planned to charge her in connection with the false allegations.

The woman had been found Wednesday morning in the trunk of a car along S.C. 917 and claimed she had been kidnapped, Cox said.

Additional details were not immediately available.
