MYRTLE BEACH — A Myrtle Beach man was indicted on an assault charge in connection with a man riding a bicycle being pulled from it and thrown to the ground, according to court records.
Darin Scott Kirk, 39, was indicted on a charge of first-degree assault and battery, according to indictments released Monday.
Kirk remains jailed at J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bond.
Myrtle Beach police arrested Kirk and charged him with attempted murder in the June 4 incident, according to a police report. Officers were called about 3:45 p.m. June 4 to the area of 909 Broadway St., police said.
Witnesses told police that a 44-year-old man was riding his bicycle when Kirk grabbed him and pulled him off the bike, according to the report. Witnesses said Kirk threw the victim to the ground and assaulted him.
Kirk had left the area before police arrived, but was stopped nearby and taken into custody, according to the report. The victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Details about the victim’s injuries were not listed in the report.
