Horry County police charged an 18-year-old woman in connection with a 1-year-old boy testing positive for marijuana and cocaine last month, according to a police report.

Cassandra Pillitteri, 18, whose hometown was not listed, was charged with unlawful neglect of a child and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 11 a.m. Friday and released at 5:14 p.m. on $5,000 bail, according to jail records.

An Horry County police report showed that officials with the state Department of Social Services got involved with the case on June 26 when officials removed the boy from a Conway home.

Allegations were made to DSS officials that Pillitteri was “blowing marijuana smoke into the victim’s face,” according to the report. Officials conducted drug screenings on Pillitteri and the boy.

The DSS official told police that the drug test results were received on July 9 and Pillitteri was positive for marijuana while the boy’s test showed positive for marijuana and cocaine, according to the report. Officials had difficulty locating Pillitteri after the test results were returned.
