Horry County Emergency Management will host several town hall meetings for residents to educate them on the Know Your Zone hurricane campaign, which involve changes in effect for hurricane season.

The first meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday for residents living the North Strand and Little River areas at the C.B. Berry Community and Historical Center, 2250 Highway 179 in Little River.

Other meetings are set for 7 p.m. Aug. 6 for South Strand areas at the South Strand Recreation, 9650 Scipio Lane in Myrtle Beach, and 6 p.m. Aug. 13 for residents in the Bucksport area at the James R. Frazier Community Center, 1370 Bucksport Road, in Conway.

Officials will address the that include three new hurricane evacuation zones, which will incorporate more land mass and will require additional people living in those areas to leave during certain hurricanes based on surge inundation instead of category of storm, officials said in a release.

Officials said residents should know if they live in a new hurricane evacuation zone and what to do when asked to leave. Residents can get more information from Horry County Emergency Management’s website at http://emd.horrycounty.org/ to view the new hurricane evacuation zone maps and related information on how to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.
