— A 54-year-old woman suffered a cut to her face after she told Myrtle Beach police a man hit her with a broom when she told him to not stay up too late watching television, according to a police report.

Officers were called at 1 p.m. Wednesday to 634 Ramsey Drive for a disturbance, police said. Officers found the woman, who said her 62-year-old boyfriend, lives with her and she told him not to stay up all night watching TV.

The victim said the man told her to go back into the bedroom, but she told him that he doesn’t pay the bills so he should not stay up all night with the TV on, according to the report. The victim said the man got up and pushed her and told her he would hit her with the broom if she did not return to the bedroom.

The victim said she asked him what he was going to do, and he picked up the broom and hit her in the face, according to the report. The victim said the broom handle broke and cut her on the face.

The victim went to the bathroom to stop the bleeding and she said the man said he did not mean to hit her and she replied she was calling the police, according to the report. The victim said the man ran out of the house.

The woman went to a local hospital after police arrived at the house and she received five stitches to her face, according to the report. Officers did not find the suspect in the area and planned to get a warrant for his arrest.
