— A 22-year-old man was arrested at the Myrtle Beach International Airport after authorities said they found drugs inside his checked bag, according to a police report.

Anthony Wilfredo Lopez, 22, of Myrtle Beach was charged with simple possession of marijuana after officers were called about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to the airport at 1100 Jetport Road, police said.

Lopez remained jailed at J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending a bond hearing, according to records at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Screeners with the Transportation Security Administration alerted authorities they found marijuana and a grinder inside a checked back that had Lopez’s name and flight information on it, according to the report. Lopez was scheduled to fly to Detroit and then to Los Angeles.

Police seized the bag and asked airline agents to notify them when Lopez attempted to board the plane, according to the report. Officers took Lopez into custody when he went to board the plane.

Lopez told police the nine grams of marijuana was for his personal use, according to the report.
