Meeting on hurricane preparedness set for Wednesday

The seventh annual public meeting for hurricane preparation will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Duffy Center at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Ave., Garden City Beach.

The meeting will feature updates from Randy Webster, Horry County Emergency Management

director; Sam Hodge, Georgetown County Emergency Management; and Ed Piotrowski, WPDE-TV 15 chief meteorologist. There also will be a review of the change to area zones in the event the governor orders an evacuation.

The meeting will focus on the areas of Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield Beach, Pawleys Island and Georgetown. Early arrival is recommended in order to get a seat.
