— Myrtle Beach police cited a 43-year-old man with leaving his dog on a hotel balcony in the sun and heat without any shelter, according to an arrest report.

Richard Lee Tilley, 43, of Myrtle Beach was cited with abandoned/mistreated animals after officers were called at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to 2803 N. Ocean Blvd., for the incident, police said.

An officer saw the female pit bull on the third floor balcony of the Americana Motel and the dog did not have shelter from the heat or sun, according to the arrest report.
