MYRTLE BEACH — Georgetown County deputies arrested a 32-year-old man and 25-year-old woman on charges in connection with a girl being sexually assaulted, according to Carrie Cuthbertson, a spokeswoman with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
Leopold Esteban-Rodriguez, 32, and Jennifer Smith, 25, were each arrested Friday after an investigation into reports of child abuse, Cuthbertson said.
Esteban-Rodriguez was charged with four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and Smith was charged with unlawful neglect of a child, Cuthbertson said. Smith was being held on $10,000 bond and Esteban-Rodriguez was denied bond.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s investigators were notified by the victim’s father of a possible child abuse incident, Cuthbertson said. The arrest of the couple followed after the investigation.
