Suspect in custody in Georgetown shooting

A 22-year-old is in custody following a shooting in Georgetown Friday afternoon, according to the Georgetown Police Department’s Facebook page.

The shooting occurred on the 100 block of Orange Street before 5 p.m. Police said two men said they were shot at with a shotgun. One received minor injuries, but neither required medical attention.

The suspect was arrested on the 900 block of Front Street and a sawed off shotgun was found in his car, police said.

The suspect was taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center and charges are pending. The Sun News does not identify suspects until formal charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing and police do not know what prompted the shooting.
