— Forensic experts testified Wednesday in the trial of a Conway man charged with murder in the April 2012 shooting death of a 37-year-old Socastee man.

Witness testimony began Tuesday in the trial of Marcus Dwain Wright, 31, charged with murder in the April 30, 2012, shooting of Jerome “JJ” Green, who died inside the mobile home of his cousin on Figure Eight Road.

Police officials, including those who investigated the crime scene, and experts in drugs and firearms testified Wednesday during the trial. A jury of 12 women and two men, including two alternates were selected the day before to preside over the case.

On Wednesday, Michelle Eichenmiller, a forensic firearm expert with the State Law Enforcement Division, testified bullets and shell casings she inspected from the crime scene matched a .40-caliber handgun.

Police also said receipts and the box from the purchase of a .40-caliber handgun were found inside Wright’s home and vehicle. The the gun never was found.

At the time of his arrest, Horry County police also seized cocaine and crack cocaine.

Lisa Floyd, a drug expert, who processed the drugs at the Horry County police drug lab, testified that she confirmed that there were five bags of drugs brought to the lab in connection with the case. She said it included 41.27 grams of cocaine and 2.80 grams of crack cocaine.

On Tuesday, witnesses testified that it was a comment Green made to his cousin, Roy Sinclair, about the drugs and people inside Sinclair’s home that provoked the shooting, Sinclair testified Tuesday.

Veronica Chandler, who is a friend of Green’s family, testified Tuesday she was standing talking to Green when he was shot multiple times. She said she was so close she had blood on her and for a moment she thought she had been shot.

Wright is one of four people charged in Green’s death. Wright and Lanard Centrell “Capone” Powell, 30, were each charged with murder in Green’s death after police found them May 2, 2012, in a hotel room near Conway. Also arrested was Qwanda Patrice Brown Caldwell, 33, of Columbia. She was found in Richland County by the State Law Enforcement Division and charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

Wright’s wife, Jacinda Elizabeth Wright, 29, of Conway, has also been charged with accessory after the fact of murder. Powell, Caldwell, and Wright will be prosecuted at a later date.
