— Two men were killed Tuesday in separate crashes within five hours of each other in Horry County, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The crashes occurred on Carolina Forest Boulevard and on Shell Road, according to state troopers.

The first crash was reported at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday along Carolina Forest Boulevard and resulted in the death of a 35-year-old Conway man, according to the patrol’s website.

Andrew Roberts died at the scene of the crash, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said Wednesday morning.

Roberts was riding a bicycle with no lights and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash, said Billy Elder with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Roberts and the driver of a 2005 Ford pickup truck were headed east on Carolina Forest Boulevard near the Waterbridge subdivision when the truck hit Roberts, Elder said.

The crash remains under investigation.

The second crash occurred at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday on Shell Road, which is of off S.C. 905 between Conway and Longs, according to authorities.

Samuel E. Ellis, 63, of Conway died at the scene from multiple injuries sustained in that crash, said Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick.

Specific details about the second crash were not available from the Highway Patrol late Wednesday.
