Letter | Stranger’s kindness brightened a dark day

May 22, 2013

On May 18 our beloved 21-year-old cat, Moses, died of cancer. My husband, Bill, and I were sad at his passing and decided to go to Hamburger Joe’s just to get out of the quiet house.

When we were ready to leave, the waitress told us that a gentleman who had been seated at a nearby table had paid for our meal. We were surprised that someone would do that for us. I asked for the meal's amount so we could give her a tip. She said he had paid for that, too.

We have no idea who the gentleman was, or why we were chosen. We do appreciate his kindness that gave us a smile on our sad day . Thank you, Mr. Gentleman, we will pass your kindness forward.
