Crews with Paving Services Inc. demolished the old Hamburger Joe’s building in North Myrtle Beach this week to make way for a new LongHorn Steakhouse.

Construction is expected to start soon on the new LongHorn at 4723 Highway 17 South in North Myrtle Beach, with the restaurant planning to open in mid-October, spokeswoman Erica Jaeger said.

The 6,270-square-foot restaurant will seat about 240 people. It will be LongHorn’s second location along the Grand Strand; it has a restaurant in Myrtle Beach at 1180 Oak Forest Lane near Coastal Grand mall.

LongHorn plans to hire between 80 and 100 people for the North Myrtle Beach location, with hiring starting about seven weeks before the opening, Jaeger said. Jobseekers can apply on the company’s website, www.longhornsteakhouse.com/employment.
