Conway police investigate robbery at apartment near Coastal Carolina University

— Conway police are investigating a report that three men rushed into an apartment near Coastal Carolina University and robbed its occupants at gunpoint, according to a police report.

A 19-year-old man told police that he heard a knock at the door of the apartment at 660 Highway 544 about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and when he opened the door three men rushed inside, according to the report. The victim said his 20-year-old girlfriend and a 19-year-old roommate were inside the apartment when the men, one armed with a gun and two armed with steak knives, came in.

The victims gave police varying statements about what happened.

Police learned the men took cash from the third victim and a fourth man told police he heard them banging on his neighbor’s door and he looked out to see a man with a gun, closed his door and went to find his phone to call police, according to the report.

The victims said one of the men put a gun to one man’s head and held the others at knifepoint, according to the report. The robbers wore ski masks over their faces.
