Nonprofit gets grant for foreclosure prevention counseling

— A North Charleston nonprofit has secured a $273,420 contract to counsel residents statewide who are facing foreclosure.

Family Services Inc. got the contract from the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program and will be paid based on the amount of counseling it does.

FSI’s Homeownership Resource Center aims to reach residents who are having trouble making their mortgage payments, facing default or at potential risk of foreclosure.;
