Letter | Don’t want to follow Grand Strand’s laws? Don’t come to the beach

Re April 15 letter by Rich Mogensen, “Myrtle Beach attitude to marijuana ludicrous”

After Mr. Mogensen of Charlotte, N.C., was arrested by the Myrtle Beach police on a marijuana charge and had to spend some time in jail he apparently thought he should pay the police back for doing what they are supposed to do. His letter describes them as “jack-booted thugs” and their actions as “roughly handcuffed,” “marched in front of the hotel lobby and thrown into the back of a cruiser.” He goes on to complain about the phone system in the jail and having to spend time with “some truly savory characters.”

Oh please. The one redeeming remark in his letter was “Unless I have to, I will never step foot in Myrtle Beach again.” I say good riddance, and to police officers everywhere, thank you for the great job you do for all of us.

The writer lives in Pawleys Island.
