MYRTLE BEACH — After an unexpected three-week delay, the store selling Welcome to Myrtle Manor merchandise at Patricks Mobile Home Park opened Monday.
Welcome to Myrtle Manor is a docu-drama that was filmed last year at Patricks, on Highway 15 in Myrtle Beach. It premiered March 3 on TLC.
The Patrick family, who are among the shows cast members, have been selling merchandise ranging from beer belts to T-shirts since the beginning of the month, said park owner Cecil Patrick. Merchandise also can be found online at www.myrtlemanor.com.
Weve sold over 2,000 shirts in three weeks, Patrick said. We just cant keep merchandise here. We get three- to 500 people a day through here.
The Myrtle Beach City Council approved a resolution March 26 that designates the trailer park as a film district, allowing it to operate commercial businesses inside the residential zone.
In addition to creating the Myrtle Manor Film District, the council approved a special event permit that allows the sale of show souvenirs and concessions, and the operation of a hair salon for 90 days, from April 1 to June 29. Patrick could then re-apply for subsequent special event permits 90-days at a time that would allow the commercial activity to continue.
