Myrtle Beach police release photo, search for information in store robberies

— Myrtle Beach police are seeking information about a man suspected in an armed robbery and a strong armed robbery at two convenience stores in the city this month, according to a news release.

Police released a surveillance photo of the man and asked that anyone with information about the man to call police at 918-1382.

The man is suspected in a robbery at the Circle K convenience store located at 17th Avenue South and Kings Highway and a robbery at the Scotchman at 6201 N. Kings Highway, police said. A police report regarding the robbery at the Circle K was not immediately available.

But a police report filed in connection with the Scotchman incident showed police were called at 6:41 a.m. Wednesday to the store after a man went into the store selected a $0.25 lollipop from the shelf, handed it to the cashier and then handed her a quarter.

When the clerk opened the cash register the man reached over and took money while he struggled with the clerk, who tried to close the register, according to the report. Another employee heard the commotion and ran over the help the clerk try to close the register.

The man took cash from the register and then ran from the store, according to the report.
