The inaugural “Waves of the Future” celebration of fine arts, sponsored by the Chicora Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach, will feature 23 student acts, including vocal and instrumental artists and dancers, according to a news release from Horry County Schools. The event will be held April 21 at the Carolina Opry at 4 p.m.

“Waves of the Future” is a showcase of talent featuring students at all grade levels. Modeled after a successful 20-year program in Wake County, N.C., it is expected to become an annual event and fundraiser for fine arts programs.

“This event will allow our community to see the amazing gifts and remarkable abilities of hundreds of students who have come together as performers, singers, dancers and artists. We know you will be proud of our children and for what they have accomplished,” said Bill Greene, Chicora Rotary president.
