— Surfside Beach police charged a 21-year-old woman and 35-year-old man in connection with a 78-year-old woman’s purse being taken from her in a grocery store parking lot, according to authorities.

Jordan Ashley Revaz, 21, of Surfisde Beach and Carlos Thomas Cuestas, 35, of Tuscan, Ariz., were each charged with criminal conspiracy and purse snatching and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday, according to jail records. Revaz is being held on $10,000 bond, while Cuestas is being held on $50,000 bond.

Surfside Beach police were called just before 11 a.m. March 21 to Piggly Wiggly at 122 U.S. 17 North for a purse snatching, according to a police report. The victim told police she was walking toward the store in the parking lot when a man came up behind her and grabbed her purse from her hand.

The victim said the man then ran to a nearby brown Sport Utility Vehicle and left, according to the report. A witness told police that she saw the man take the woman’s purse and then run to a Jeep, which drove away and was last seen going north on Kings Highway.

It was unclear how Surfside Beach police arrested the couple.
