MYRTLE BEACH — Myrtle Beach police charged a 48-year-old man with assault after the man’s roommate told police he was punched in the face because the man was upset that his girlfriend didn’t come home, according to a police report.
Ronald G. Lasley, 48, of Myrtle Beach was charged with third-degree assault and battery after officers were called at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to 509 Third Ave. N., police said. Lasley was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail at 7 a.m. Thursday pending a bond hearing.
A 37-year-old man told police he was sitting inside his truck outside their apartment when Lasley punched him in the face, according to the report. The victim said the men argued inside the apartment and Lasley was upset that his girlfriend did not come home the night before.
The victim said Lasley blamed him for the woman not returning and told the victim to leave the apartment, according to the report. The victim said he went to his vehicle to let Lasley calm down, but he followed him outside and punched him in the face, which caused swelling to his right side.
The victim drove to a nearby payphone and called police, according to the report. The victim declined EMS treatment.
