The Alpha Nu Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Horry Georgetown Technical College was honored in Clemmons, N.C., with 21 awards, according to a news release from the college.

The most prestigious of the awards is the Most Distinguished Chapter award, given because the HGTC chapter placed first of 84 chapters in students’ volunteerism on campus and in the local community. Trident Technical College received second place and Aiken Technical College received third place. Additionally, HGTC student Barbara Sookram was elected to serve as the Carolinas Region secretary for the 2013-14 term.
