Myrtle Beach police charge Camden man with attempted murder

— Myrtle Beach police charged a Camden man with attempted murder in connection with the assault of a 43-year-old woman at an Ocean Boulevard motel, according to authorities.

Cletis Edward Baker, 37, of Camden was charged with attempted murder and taken into police custody at 4:26 a.m. Friday at Cabana Shores at 5701 N. Ocean Blvd., police said.

Officers were called to that location at 11:30 p.m. Thursday for an assault, according to an incident report, which did not list any other details about the circumstances that lead to Baker’s arrest. A 43-year-old woman was listed as the victim in the incident report.

In Baker’s arrest report, police noted that the victim told officers that Baker had assaulted her and a witness confirmed the assault, according to the arrest report.

No other details were available at 6:30 a.m. Friday.
