‘Myrtle Manor’ silly, but probably good for tourism

March 14, 2013

After seeing the preview for “Welcome to Myrtle Manor,” I honestly did not even want to watch it. I chose not to watch it but I did receive the opportunity to read articles on the topic. Once I read those articles, I found the show sort of entertaining.

The show is depicting South Carolina as something we are not, but for entertainment purposes. The only people that should be embarrassed are the cast members because they are making a mockery of themselves. I found the show to sort of bash South Carolina but also help it. This show has brought attention to Myrtle Beach and could help bring even more tourists to the state. This is just another reality TV show like “Jersey Shore.” If people actually believe that is how South Carolina is, let them think that. Overall, I think this show will boost tourism for the next couple summers.
