Caring people do still exist

Re March 12 letter by Dorothy Deitz, “Handicapped deserve more regard.”

I just want to assure the writer of that letter that there are still courteous and caring people living among us. I’m one of them.

As far as a handicapped person being in the car while the driver is in a store, maybe the passenger can’t walk or run an electric cart. They can’t be left alone while their caregiver runs out to get their groceries.

You said we should all do little things for others. I’m a cashier and if I see an older person or someone with any kind of physical problem, I automatically pack their items light. I ask them if they need someone to get their groceries or whatever into their car and I call for assistance.

All I can say to the author of that letter is that there are caring people out there. We are courteous and have respect for other people. It’s just that you haven’t met us yet.

The writer lives in Garden City Beach.
