MYRTLE BEACH — A Myrtle Beach woman told state lottery officials she isn’t a regular player when she claimed a $2 million prize, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
The woman, who declined to be identified, spent $3 on a Powerball quick pick ticket with PowerPlay for Saturday’s drawing and won by matching the five white balls, according to the S.C. Education Lottery. The woman said her husband woke her up Sunday morning with the news they had won.
“She almost cried,” the man told lottery officials.
“I’m thankful for anything,” the winner said.
The couple plans to give anonymously to area churches and the local food pantry, and then pay off their home, according to the news release. The Express Mart received a commission of $20,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
