— A Myrtle Beach man was indicted by an Horry County grand jury in connection with the November stabbing of a man at an apartment complex in the city, according to court records.

Herbert Jordan Richardson III, 34, was indicted on one count of murder in the Nov. 28 death of 48-year-old Randall Burkett, who died of stabbing and blunt force trauma, according to indictments released Monday.

Richardson has been in police custody since the incident and remains at J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bond.

Myrtle Beach police were called about 5:15 a.m. Nov. 23 to 407 Chester St., for the stabbing, according to a police report. A witness, who was outside the apartment complex flagged down the officer to report that he was watching television when he heard “a thump” from the upstairs apartment.

The witness told police he heard someone screaming that “he’s trying to kill me,” according to the report. The witness opened the door and saw Burkett standing in the door with blood on his head, arm and stomach areas.

Witnesses sat Burkett down and applied pressure to his wounds while they called 911 and waited for police, according to the report. The victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where he later died from the wounds.

In the report, witnesses told police that the victim told them that “Jordan did this to him.”

Police took Richardson into custody inside the apartment.

No other details were listed in the report.
