Myrtle Beach man charged after woman reports being choked, kicked

— A Myrtle Beach man is being held on $7,500 bond after police charged him with assault in connection with a 41-year-old woman being kicked and choked, according to a police report.

Shawn Allen McClead, 40, of Myrtle Beach was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature after officers wee called at 12:20 a.m. Sunday to an apartment at 504 Adler St., police said.

McClead is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $7,500 bond.

The victim told police she and McClead argued about her daughter for about an hour after they got home from a bar, according to the report. The victim said they were on their bed in the floor when McClead kicked her in the head.

The victim said she begged him to stop, but he became more enraged and got on top of her and choked her, according to the report. The victim said she feared for her life and McClead stopped when a witness came into the room.

The witness, who was not identified in the report, told officers she heard a loud noise in the couple’s room and the victim yelled for her to call police, according to the report. The witness said she saw McClead on top of the victim, choking her.

The victim declined to be taken to the hospital by EMS.
